Why We Gather - Part 2 ”Other prisoners are listening.” - Acts 16v25-31// November 2nd, 2025
Teaching overview
This week, in his second part to the “Why We Gather” series; Riley Taylor taught that worship through singing is essential to the life of the church because it honors God, shapes believers, and proclaims the gospel. Drawing from Acts 16, he showed how worship becomes a witness to those listening—offering truth, freedom, and a sense of home. He encouraged the church to see their singing as both formation for themselves and an invitation for others to encounter God.
Our prayer for your Community
Lord, help us lift our voices in worship this week with hearts that honor You and rest in Your truth. Let our songs become a witness of hope and freedom to everyone who hears, drawing them closer to You.
Group questions and further meditations:
1. Seeking the Lord
Reflect on how the teaching on worship being “overheard” challenged or encouraged you. Where did you sense the Lord inviting you to seek Him more deeply—whether in the honesty of your worship, the freedom you express before Him, or the trust you place in His presence even in hard places?
2. Practicing the Way of Jesus
Consider how Acts 16 reframes worship as both formation and mission. What belief about worship, community, or freedom needs to come into alignment with Scripture—and what concrete step (singing with more openness, engaging worship even when you don’t “feel it,” inviting someone into a worship gathering, etc.) is the Spirit leading you to practice this week?
3. Living the Mission of Renewal
Ask yourself where you need encouragement, prayer, or accountability to live as a worshiper whose life and voice bear witness to Jesus. In what specific ways can your group walk with you—helping you live out a worship that speaks truth, offers freedom, and welcomes others into the home of God?
