Welcome to
Mountlake Kids

β€œOur heart here at Mountlake Kids is to display God’s goodness to the children. Psalm 34:8 says, "taste and see that the Lord is good.” If we give children a taste of God’s goodness, they will pursue it for the rest of their lives. We long to see children grow into life-long followers of Jesus.

Each week we aim to sow the teachings and ways of Jesus in young hearts and watch them grow in community with each other and their leaders.”

KIDS IN WORSHIP

At Mountlake Church, we firmly believe that worship is for the whole family, not just the adults. To accommodate this we have structured our worship gathering to include kids! After check-in, worship and prayer, kids are dismissed to the front of the stage to join their leaders and go to class.

Classrooms for ages 0-3 are open for the entire gathering for families who choose to drop off their littles early.

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR YOUR CHILD’S SPECIFIC AGE

  • 0–1 year olds can be checked in directly to the Garden Room in our kids wing (south end of the building). Families are also welcome to bring babies into the worship service and check them in later during Kid’s Dismissal.

During each Sunday service, our 0–1 year olds are cared for by qualified, loving adults. Parents can fully engage in the main worship gathering, knowing they can be quickly reached by text through our check-in system if their child needs them. Babies will engage with each-other through play, with their leaders through light activities led by our Wonder team and with scripture through songs lead by our Story team.

  • 2-3 year olds can be checked in directly to the Ocean Room in our kids wing (south end of the building). Families are also welcome to bring toddlers into the worship service and check them in later during Kid’s Dismissal.

During each Sunday service, our 2-3 year olds are cared for by qualified, loving adults. • 4–5 year olds start in the worship service with their families and are dismissed to the River Room during Kids Dismissal.

During the service, kids are cared for by trusted, loving leaders, so you can stay engaged knowing we’ll text you if your child needs you. In the River Room, kids learn through play and simple activities, then head to the Jungle Room for Story Timeβ€”an imaginative, theatrical telling of the Bible that helps them understand who God is in a way that fits their age.

  • 6–7 year olds start in the worship service with their families and are dismissed to the Jungle Room during Kids Dismissal.

In the Jungle Room, kids are cared for by trusted, loving leaders and engage in games, activities, and hands-on learning designed for their age. A central part of their time is Story Timeβ€”an imaginative, theatrical experience that brings the Bible to life and helps kids understand who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him in their everyday lives.

  • 8–9 year olds start in the worship service with their families and are dismissed to the Forest Room during kids dismissal.

In the Forest Room, kids are cared for by trusted, energetic leaders and spend their time in active, game-heavy environments designed for this stage of growth. A key part of their experience is joining Bridge in the Mountain Room for teachingβ€”where we use visuals, slideshows, and videos to explore Scripture in a more topical way. This is a place for kids who are stepping into β€œbig kid” territoryβ€”learning to think more deeply about what it means to follow Jesus and live it out during the week.

  • 10–12 year olds start in the worship service with their families and are dismissed to Bridge in the Mountain Room during Kids Dismissal.

Bridge is all about helping kids move forward in their walk with Jesus as they prepare to transition into youth group and begin integrating more fully into the Sunday morning gathering. Kids are cared for by trusted, engaging leaders and spend time in active, game-based environments that fit their age and stage of growth. Teaching uses visuals, slideshows, and videos to explore Scripture in a topical way.

Bridge is a place for kids stepping into the next stageβ€”learning what it means to follow Jesus personally and preparing to take ownership of their faith. And yes, there’s cereal.

  • Middle School and High School students (7th grade and up) are a fully integrated part of our Sunday worship gatherings. They’re encouraged to sit with their families or with friends and leaders, helping them grow as active participants in the life of the church and not just observers.

On Sundays at 11am, students sit together as a youth community in the front row. Midweek, students gather for Youth Group on Wednesdays from 6:30–8:30pm in the Youth Roomβ€”an environment built for connection, teaching, and helping students grow in their faith and friendships. For more info, check out our Youth page!

What We’re Learning

We’re incredibly stoked to be using The Biggest Story by Crossway as we walk our kids through God’s Word. It’s rare to find biblical content that treats kids as intelligent, stays rooted in the gospel, and actually looks awesomeβ€”but their team really nailed it.

If you want to follow along at home with what we’re teaching in Mountlake Kids, you can grab TBS resources in the bookstore or check out more about the project at the link below.

Visiting us this Sunday?

We’ll get the place ready for you and your family.

Serious growth. Serious fun.

β€œLet the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

Luke 18v16

We are a place of love and belonging. From the moment that we check your children into their secure classrooms, they will be enveloped into the loving arms of Jesus. We want your children to learn about the teachings and ways of Jesus, not just through a Bible lesson, but through our relationships with them and their belonging to the body of Christ.
