The Gospel of John- Part 15: Jesus Feeds the 5000 | John 6:1-15// May 3, 2026
Teaching overview
Tucker Tillman continued in our study through John. He taught on Jesus feeding the 5,000, showing how the disciples focused on their lack and the crowd focused on what they could get, while both missed the deeper point. The miracle wasn’t just about provision—it revealed Jesus as the true “bread of life” who alone satisfies our deepest needs. The invitation is to come to Jesus not just for what he can do, but for who he is.
Our prayer for the Community
Father, as we come to you together, we admit how often we focus on what we lack or what we want from you instead of simply coming to you. Help us to trust you with what we have and to see Jesus as the true bread of life who alone satisfies our souls. This week, draw our hearts to desire you more than your provision, and teach us to rest in who you are. Amen
Group questions and further meditations:
Bringing What I Have (The Disciples)
Meditation:
I often focus on what I don’t have or what I can’t do, instead of trusting Jesus with what’s already in my hands. Jesus isn’t asking me to solve everything—he’s asking me to bring what I have and trust him with it.
Question:
When you’re faced with a need or challenge, do you tend to focus more on your limitations or on Jesus’ ability—and what would it look like to bring what you have to him this week?
Wanting the Gift or the Giver (The Crowd)
Meditation:
It’s possible to seek Jesus mainly for what he can provide, while missing a deeper relationship with him. True satisfaction isn’t found in what Jesus gives, but in being with him.
Question:
In your current season in life, are you more focused on what you want from Jesus or on knowing him—and how can you intentionally pursue him this week?
3. Jesus as My True Satisfaction (Jesus: The Bread of Life)
Meditation:
Jesus doesn’t just meet needs—he is the source of life itself. When I look to other things for fulfillment, I often end up empty, but Jesus offers lasting satisfaction.
Question:
Where are you currently looking for fulfillment or satisfaction outside of Jesus, and what would it look like to turn toward him instead this week?
